Google operated Google Domains is a domain name registry, and is known for its fast, secure and reliable infrastructure, which makes it a quality and dependable registrar that you can trust. It offers transparent pricing that does not increase upon renewal (as domains often do), competitive pricing and valuable extras such as privacy protection and two-step verification.
Here’s what Google Domains offers:
Google Domains is a modern and easy-to-use domain name registrar. It is an Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (“ICANN”)-accredited registrar for top-level domain names (a.k.a. “TLDs”). From Google Domains, the public may search for and register an available domain name of their choice for a flat annual fee. The purchasing process is simple and involves just a couple of steps to complete your contact information and provide your payment information.
After purchasing a domain through Google Domains, it is very easy to connect your domain to any of the major web hosting providers, such as Bluehost, IONOS, InMotion Hosting or DreamHost. And because Google also owns Google Workspace, it is very straightforward to set up business email using your new domain name.
Google Domains is an overall high-quality domain name registrar with pricing that rivals its competitors—even upon renewal. It’s a great value between the low price and inclusion of domain name privacy (or “privacy protection”). However, it may not be the best choice for those who are new to building websites and those who are looking for web hosting in addition to a new domain name. This is because many web hosting providers include a domain name with web hosting plans, which automatically connect your domain to your hosting plan.
Google Domains is best for:
Google Domains is not recommended for:
Google Domains offers a clean and user-friendly interface and that, unlike many competitors, is not riddled with pop-ups and upsells. It also stands out for its flat, low-cost pricing that does not increase upon renewal the way it often does with many of its leading competition. What’s more, not only is pricing transparent and competitive, but it also offers a great value for the price as all domains include domain name privacy, which keeps your personal information private.

You won’t find the longest list of features with Google Domains; however, you will find that Google Domains does a few things very well. It makes the process of finding an available domain name easy and the process of registering your domain of choice simple. Its interface is clean and free of ads, pop-ups and upsells (all of which are all too common among domain registrars). All domains come with privacy protection, two-factor authentication and the option to easily set up business email through Google Workspace.
Google Domains offers you a quick and easy way to register a domain with its intuitive and straightforward search function. It has over 300 domain extensions available, offering a great deal of options for those who are not limiting their search to a .com extension. For those who want a bit of help choosing the right domain name, Google Domains’ search function shows insights for each domain. For example, it might say that it’s a bit long or that it’s more likely to be misspelled or misunderstood.
Privacy protection comes standard, so there is no need to worry about adding it in the registration process. DNS hosting also comes standard, which enables your domain to be found on the internet.

Though Google Domains does not offer email hosting, it does offer email hosting through Google’s premium email service, Google Workspace. What’s different about Google Workspace from Gmail is that—unlike Gmail, which is free and uses the gmail domain (e.g., username@gmail.com)—Google Workspace enables you to create a professional email address that uses your custom domain name (e.g., username@yourdomain.com).
There are three main Google Workspace plans as well as an enterprise plan. Plans start at INR 499.38 ($6) per month per user for a business email address, 30GB of storage and the ability to host meetings through Google’s video conferencing software for businesses, Google Meet, with up to 100 participants. All plans require a one-year commitment. However, billing is on a monthly cycle, so you pay monthly rather than paying for the entire year upfront.

Google is renowned for being a pioneer in built-in enhanced internet security. Security features include two-factor authentication for added protection, as well as one-click DNSSEC, which helps to protect your domain against common threats such as DNS spoofing and cache poison attacks. Domain lock is automatically enabled on all new domains, as well as domain permissions which enable users to add users to the domain for management purposes.
To protect your personal information, all Google Domains also come with privacy protection, which means that the information you use to register the domain is not publicly accessible in the WHOIS database.

In addition to the above domain extensions, Google has over 300 extensions available—all of which vary in price. For more insights into all of the available extensions and their price, visit Google Domains.
Another area where Google Domains really shines is in its support availability and quality. Google Domains have a massive help center as well as user-friendly guides to walk you through common questions and issues, but it also has live 24/7 support via live chat and email. This can make a major difference in instances where you have an issue and need professional help quickly—any time of day, any day of the week.

Domains from Google Domains are cheaper than Hover—even compared to Hover’s introductory rate. Both are user-friendly and include domain name privacy, but again, Google Domains costs less for the same thing. Also, Google has more advanced security features, helping to further safeguard your domain. On the other hand, Hover does offer more affordable email hosting plans, which cost less than one-third of Google’s entry-level plan.
So, if you’re in the market for a domain name, Google Domains is the better choice. Whereas, if you’re looking for low-cost business email, choose Hover.
A .com domain from Google Domains will cost about 1 cent more than with Domain.com. However, given that there are two major caveats, Domain.com is not the more affordable option of the two. Domain.com is only cheaper for your first year. Upon renewal, that same .com domain jumps up to INR 1830.22 ($21.99) per year—and if you want domain name privacy, that will cost an additional INR 748.23 ($8.99) per year, bringing your total cost per year up to INR 2578.45 ($30.98).
One major difference to note is that Domain.com does offer low-cost web hosting plans and boasts unlimited storage and bandwidth on all plans. This makes it a good choice if you are in need of web hosting.
The first year for a .com domain from GoDaddy will cost nearly the same as with Google Domains. However, upon renewal, the price with Google Domains stays at INR 998.75 ($12) per year, whereas the price with GoDaddy nearly doubles to INR 1845.20 ($22.17). This makes Google Domains a better long-term value than GoDaddy when it comes to domains. As for email, GoDaddy is more affordable with plans starting at INR 165.63 ($1.99) per month compared to Google at INR 499.38 ($6) per month.
If you happen to be looking for both a domain and web hosting, then GoDaddy might be the better option. This is because GoDaddy offers low-cost web hosting plans starting at INR 415.32 ($4.99) per month with annual billing and your domain will automatically connect to your hosting if both are purchased from GoDaddy.
